The Fridge Stare

You know the feeling. The fridge door is open, the pantry is a blur, and you're just standing there. The silence in the kitchen feels loud. It’s just dinner, but your brain has decided this is the most important choice of the evening.

When the options all feel wrong

You start running through the list in your head. Pasta feels like a commitment. A sandwich seems too simple, almost like you’re giving up. Leftovers from two days ago are technically an option, but they’re also a little sad.You close the fridge. You open it again. Nothing has changed. It’s the same food, the same light, the same weird hum. You’re not even hungry anymore, you’re just stuck.

Letting go of the choice

That’s when I started using a wheel. It felt a bit silly at first, typing out the things I already had into a list. But it was a list without judgment. No voice in my head saying "that’s boring" or "you had that yesterday."It was just a list. And then it was just a spin. The relief was immediate. The decision was made, and I didn't have to own it. I could just follow it.

The quiet acceptance

There’s a strange peace in that. The mental chatter just stops.
