The awkward silence before deciding

It was one of those nights where the plan was just to hang out, but nobody could decide on what to do. The silence stretched out, comfortable at first, then just a little bit heavy. We were all just staring at our phones, waiting for someone else to make the call.

That moment of collective shrug

Someone would suggest a movie, and two people had already seen it. Another would mention a game, but the controller batteries were dead. It wasn't that we didn't want to do anything together.
