About This Spin Wheel

We ran a short campaign last week, and the comments came in. It was a nice, quiet little thing, just a way to connect. Now it's time to pick someone.

The moment before the draw

I looked at the list of names. It felt a bit strange, just taking them as they were. I wanted it to feel fair, like anyone who showed up had a real shot. There's always that hesitation, you know? The part where you wonder if you should ask for an email to verify. But that changes the feeling of it. It makes it a transaction. This time, I just let the comments stand. It felt more honest that way. People chose to be there, or they didn't.

Letting people decide

The whole point was to keep it simple. No big fanfare, no over-the-top promises. Just a clear, optional thing you could join if you wanted.I think that's the only way these feel genuine. When people participate because they want to, not because they're being funneled somewhere. The transparency is the whole point. It's quieter, for sure. But the people who are there, are really there. That matters more than a big list of contacts.

How the wheel looked

I loaded all the usernames into the wheel. Each one was just a line of text, a person who took a moment to write something.

Spinning it

You hit the button and there's that brief pause. The wheel spins and for a second, it's just pure chance. Then it slows, and lands.
