About This Spin Wheel

I was setting up a small giveaway for our local community project. It wasn't about creating a frenzy or collecting as many emails as possible. It was just about sharing a few nice things with people who already cared.

Deciding to keep it simple

I remember looking at other giveaway pages and feeling a bit put off by all the exclamation points and urgent countdown timers. It felt like being shouted at. So I decided to strip all that hype language out of the copy. The page just explained what we were doing, plainly. It felt more honest that way. I wasn't trying to trick anyone into joining; I just wanted to offer something small in return for their interest. The goal was to build a bit of trust before I ever asked for an action.

Letting people decide for themselves

The structure of the page was open. There was no pressure to spin the wheel immediately. I made sure the information about the prizes and the process was right there, easy to find if someone wanted it.People could read, think about it, and leave if it wasn't for them. That was the point. Letting users decide freely felt like the only fair way to do it. The conversion, if it happened, would come from a genuine choice.

The moment the wheel spun

Watching the first few spins come in was quietly satisfying. It wasn't a huge number, but each one felt like a person who had understood the offer and opted in.

After the names were drawn

When I announced the winners, the responses were just simple thank-yous. There was no confusion or sense that anyone felt misled, which was the best outcome I could have hoped for.
