A short break with friends

I was sitting there, the hum of conversation a soft blanket around me. My phone was face down on the table, and for once, I just left it there.

The weight of the quiet

It felt strange at first, that deliberate pause. My fingers twitched a little, out of habit more than anything. The world outside that room could wait, just for these few minutes.I watched a friend laugh, the sound reaching me a second later. It was a real laugh, not one filtered through a screen. The light from the window caught the dust motes dancing, and I just followed them with my eyes.

What the wheel offered

I spun it without much thought. It wasn't about making a big decision. It was more like letting the afternoon decide for me, in a gentle sort of way.The option it landed on was simple. It felt like permission to do something small and silly, something I wouldn't have thought to suggest myself. There was a relief in that, in not having to be the one to come up with the plan.

A shift in the room

The energy changed, just slightly. It became less about filling the silence and more about sharing the space within it.

Letting the mood settle

My own restlessness, the low-grade buzz I'd carried in, began to soften at the edges. It didn't vanish, but it made room.We didn't talk about the wheel or what it meant. We just did the thing it suggested. And for a little while, my head was exactly where my body was, which is a rarer feeling than it should be.
